Bandwidth Requirements

In order to use 247Open Office VoIP system, you must meet the following requirements:

  1. High speed, stable Internet connection. The minimum requirement is 64 Kb/s in each direction or a total of 128kb/second. To verify connection reliability you can use packet tracing software to reveal network problems;
  2. SIP IP phone, you can use a Softphone if your PC has speakers and microphone or a headset;
  3. SIP IP phone must use G729 as the low bandwidth CODEC since we do not support G723;
  4. A personal computer for account management;

To connect to the 247OpenOffice VoIP network, you will need a SIP compatible IP phone. Please select a device from VoIP Phones page and add your selection at the time of check out or contact a representative for assistance.

To answer incoming calls, you will need a phone with dial tone—that could be a cell phone, your home phone, an office phone or any other existing line. You can also answer incoming calls through your PC with with SoftPhone free download.

Analog Phone Connection
To connect an Analog phone to a modern VoIP network you need an ATA or the analog telephone adaptor, that connects a conventional analog phone to the Internet through a broadband Internet connection. It provides the interface to convert the analog voice signals into IP packets, delivers dial tone and manages the call setup.
